It’s that time of year again. This may not be what people want to hear but I’m not too sad for all the turkeys that get eatten. If you have ever encountered a turkey in the wild they can be pretty mean. Take for example these three. They chased after us - got to admit I egged them on by stopping the car and then driving forward a little. It was interesting to see how far they would follow us – roughly half a mile before they finally gave up and went back to the hens they had left behind.

Spent some time in New York City. Can’t say that I was looking forward to it – I have been to NYC about 7 times previously, on work related matters, and never had the time to tour the city. My mistake. Recently I had the pleasure of roaming through the beautiful streets of NYC with some friends who live there now. I could not take enough pictures. Can’t wait for my next trip.

This weekend my family and I were out hiking. My youngest saw this fungus growth and said it was a footprint. I happen to agree.
I think that it is important to take our time and see what there is around us in the world. Nature’s footprints are all around waiting to be found by us. Slow down and look for them.

Last spring some family and friends went to Stockbridge, WI to do some volunteer work. Beautiful place, but as you can see it was quite snowy. Take my word for it that the wind and cold made it a good time to curl up and stay under the covers.
Later that night a snow storm moved through the area and brought with it a mixture of ice and snow. Fortune smiled on us though, as a Starbucks was about a block away so we did not have to make due with the hotel’s coffee – some generic blend that produced a bland tepid cup of brown liquid. Why don’t hotels spring for a good coffee?
I enjoyed lake Winnebago was a good place to take pictures (before the storm moved in). If you are ever in the area I would suggest the Mud Creek Coffee in Stockbridge. Nice place, friendly staff, and good food and coffee. Stop in and let me know what you think.
