New Music

Love listening to new music while I work. Here are a couple of sites that have great music. The video for “I say fever” at Ramona Falls is great! Check them both out.

Horseback Riding

Not much to look at. Went horseback riding and found this place. Interesting.

My horse kept trying to brush me up against the trees while riding. Don’t know if she just hated men or maybe it was my breath. FYI – if the place you are thinking of riding at is up for sale, don’t.

Pic (28 of 8)It’s that time of year again.  This may not be what people want to hear but I’m not too sad for all the turkeys that get eatten.  If you have ever encountered a turkey in the wild they can be pretty mean.  Take for example these three.  They chased after us - got to admit I egged them on by stopping the car and then driving forward a little.  It was interesting to see how far they would follow us – roughly half a mile before they finally gave up and went back to the hens they had left behind.

Summer’s Last Hurrah

It has been a long time since my last post – sorry.
It has been in the 30’s and 40’s here for the last couple of weeks and now – BAM! 60’s and sunny. What a nice change. I came across this flower making a valiant stand against the approaching winter months while out hiking.

Was over at a friends and they have two of the nicest cats.  But the black one thinks way too much of itself.  So I liked that I caught it while it yawned.  Right after I took this picture it looked at me as if to say “Post that picture and I’ll get even.”

Street

NYC-135Again, New York was a blast.  It seemed that every street we went down had another story.  The mixture of new and old architecture lends itself to photography.  Great place to be with a camera!

New York City

NYC Rooftop

NYC Rooftop

Spent some time in New York City. Can’t say that I was looking forward to it – I have been to NYC about 7 times previously, on work related matters, and never had the time to tour the city. My mistake. Recently I had the pleasure of roaming through the beautiful streets of NYC with some friends who live there now. I could not take enough pictures.  Can’t wait for my next trip.

Nature’s Footprint

Trees 09-29This weekend my family and I were out hiking.  My youngest saw this fungus growth and said it was a footprint.  I happen to agree.

I think that it is important to take our time and see what there is around us in the world.  Nature’s footprints are all around waiting to be found by us.  Slow down and look for them.

Hiking

Hike (8 of 8)I was out hiking when I came across these pieces of bark and the leaves along with them.  I couldn’t help but think that fall is just around the corner.  The weather around here has been gorgeous of late and it didn’t seem like summer would come to an end.  Time sure flies the older you get – seems like it was just spring and now it turned into fall.

Spring Time in Wisconsin

Pic (80 of 13)Last spring some family and friends went to Stockbridge, WI to do some volunteer work.  Beautiful place, but as you can see it was quite snowy.  Take my word for it that the wind and cold made it a good time to curl up and stay under the covers.

Later that night a snow storm moved through the area and brought with it a mixture of ice and snow.  Fortune smiled on us though, as a Starbucks was about a block away so we did not have to make due with the hotel’s coffee – some generic blend that produced a bland tepid cup of brown liquid.  Why don’t hotels spring for a good coffee?

I enjoyed lake Winnebago was a good place to take pictures (before the storm moved in).  If you are ever in the area I would suggest the Mud Creek Coffee in Stockbridge.  Nice place, friendly staff, and good food and coffee.  Stop in and let me know what you think.
